SPECIAL PROJECT FOR TASS NEWS AGENCY
The Extinct
Art direction • Design
The Extinct is about seven of the most unusual dinosaurs that roamed the territory of present day Russia millions of years ago. The first chapter covers the general information about the Mesozoic era and the Earth during that time. Moreover, it shows that our understanding of dinosaurs has changed radically over the past 30 years. The visuals in this part include an interactive map showing the changes our planet has endured during the past 250 million years, and it also shows a step-by-step illustration of the fossilisation process by showing the circumstances in which the creature had to die to be discovered in our time. Also, there is an interactive infographic portraying the periods of time when these seven dinosaurs lived.
This graphic leads us to a part about the species to which this project is dedicated. Information about them is combined into clickable cards, which are easy-to-read previews with illustrations. These profiles tell the readers what the fossils’ age is, where they were discovered, what their diet was, and where they can be seen. Once clicked, each of the cards extends to a descriptive text about the dinosaur; an illustration of the creature and some of the features of its habitat as it may have looked according to the latest findings; and a map showing where the fossils were discovered.
